Cruising Down the River

Cruising Down the River Customer Review: a great surprise!
5 years ago or so I had asked my then-104 yo great-grandmother what she wanted for her funeral services. She mentioned a song about going to a river on Sunday afternoon. Years went by, and we only half-way looked for the song. When she took a turn for the worse this past Christmas, we went looking in earnest. What we found was “Cruising Down the River.” When my mom repeated the words, she started singing along. We had found it! We did not get the CD until the day after Grandma had died at 109, but we played the song during the service, and you could almost see her waltzing with my 30-year dead grandpa. It was beautiful, just the way we wanted to remember Grandma, and for those of us who didn’t know him, a great way to imagine Grandpa.
We brought the CD home and I love it. I have never been a fan of music from this era, but these are so much fun! the recordings are free from that awful static so common to old music from this time period. The kids love to dance to the Sunflower song, and I always get a good laugh over “the merry-Go-Round Broke Down.” I am thinking to get some other albums by Russ Morgan, especially if they are such good quality.
Customer Review: Very Enjoyable Listen

I bought this CD primarily because I really like the song “Sunflower” and wanted the version on this disc. I am very satisfied with that song and have very much enjoyed the rest of the music as well. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Songs of the Tall Ships/Cruising ‘Round Yardmouth

Songs of the Tall Ships/Cruising ‘Round Yardmouth Customer Review: Ragged but right
Not strictly traditional. Some songs do feature the call and
response, but most have a more folk feel, with acoustic guitars
and an occasional pennywhistle or concertina. A few even have
drums, (sounding a little like the Pogues). There are three
different singers, all unique in there own right. The sound
has plenty of rough edges, which is good, and the melody is
always foremost in the songs. An enjoyable listen.
Customer Review: I remember listening to this group live when I was young.
Sleeping under tables at the bars where they played when I was small or at my uncle’s (Peter Marston) house when the practiced. Leave her Johnny Leave her is like a lullaby to me. This cd brings back many fond memories and the songs are great. David Jones’ voice is something special to listen to. Peter, David and Charles (O’Hegarty) really give these songs their due.

Blue Water Odyssey

Blue Water Odyssey Blue Water Odyssey is a dvd which illuminates the beauty, adventure, and excitement of a world circumnavigation under sail. It chronicles an actual voyage, bringing to life the majesty of the ocean and the exotic places that such an endeavor touches.

Bob, Sandra, sons Stephen and Dwayne, and daughter Susan departed San Diego, Ca. on their sailing ketch Sea Witch, stopping first in Hawaii. Their voyage continues through the tropical islands of the South Pacific, Australia, sailing the Torres Straits to Bali and across the Indian Ocean to Africa. They voyaged on across the South Atlantic stopping at St Helena and islands off the coast of Brazil before sailing on through the Caribbean, Panama Canal, and finally back to San Diego.

The dvd depicts robust blue water sailing, secluded anchorages, and interesting native cultures encountered along the way.

Blue Water Odyssey is an extremely well done video which leaves the viewer wanting to cast off and follow in their wake.

Customer Review: Excellent DVD, well worth the cost.
I found this dvd very interesting and well filmed. It takes one on a voyage around the world and seemed to bring the essence of such an undertaking to life. The sailing shots were well done and the places visited quite interesting. It really leaves a person wanting to cast off and sail in their wake.
Customer Review: Blue Water Odyssey - a charming amateur production
Having met the Driscoll family, in the Hawkesbury River just north of Sydney, during their circumnavigation, this film held considerable personal nostalgia for me. I remember them as a charming, good-looking bunch and this film confirms that memory. It is a modest production, a bit of a home movie in fact, but that unassuming quality is charming in itself. The film shows some of the pleasures of a trade-wind voyage, provides glimpses of beautiful, simple places far off the beaten track and of the people who live there, and, above all, creates an intimate portrait of a happy family life. Seeing the kids grow up through the five years it took to complete this circumnavigation is cute. It fact, that’s how I’d describe this film - cute, unpretentious and a pleasant 90 minutes entertainment.
