Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction In Gay Men
Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction In Gay Men
Robert Weiss, director of the Sexual Recovery Institute in Santa Monica, California, avoids political and moral arguments and instead focuses on the clinical approach, asking the question, “Is your sexual behavior causing problems in other areas of your life?” Cruise Control leads men to a better understanding of the difference between sexual compulsion and non-addictive sexual behavior within the gay experience, and it explains what resources are available for recovery. A timely and important contribution to the body of recovery literature, Cruise Control provides understanding, empathy and encouragement to gay men seeking healthy sexual expression.
Customer Review: Every gay man should read this book.
I am proud to have written this book. When I went through my own past struggles with addiction, there was nothing for me to read that offered the kind of information and direction that truly reflected my own struggle. I feel that this work really offers any gay man struggling with his sexual behavior - a real chance to evaluate his concerns and figure out how to get help. I hope it helps you or somone you love.
Customer Review: An Essential Source Book
Cruise Control is an essential handbook for any gay males dealing with sex addiction issues. In clear and concise prose, the author discusses what sex addiction is and what it is not. He gives lots of examples of appropriate and inappropriate behavior, allowing us to see ourselves where appropriate. The text is geared specifically to a gay male audience, s issues of homophobia and orientation -related shame are addressed directly without judgment. The book can be a quick, one day read or it can be read slowly and be digested depending on the needs of the reader. I very highly recommend this book.
