Customer Review: hardly worth it
This dvd is a low content production which tells the obvious. The coverage of the Bahamas was mediocre. I do not recommend this dvd for anyone who is interested in dinding out what it is like to be cruising or how to plan for such a voyage.
Customer Review: Good Quality Bahamas Video
I was impressed with the actual quality of the video. It was informative and it was helpful since my husband and I are chartering a sailboat this summer. We will be in the Abacos which they did not cover, but there was still useful information and they did interview another couple that had been to the Abacos. I felt like it was a good value overall.

Carry on Cruising Customer Review: The Most Charming In The Series
Carry On Cruising (1962) saw the series transferred into colour but the one thing missing from this is the large number of regulars absent from it - theres no Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims or Hattie Jaques. Yet surprisingly this does emerge as an enjoyable, entertaining entry in the long-running series. The action of course is set aboard a Mediterranean cruise liner (well actually it was all filmed at PineWood Studios) with the inept and typically incompentent crew under the strict command of the serious and uptight Captain Crowther, who is played marvelously by Sid James. Things all come to a climax when the crew plan a surprise party for the captain who is celebrating his tenth year at sea. This was Norman Hudis’s last script for the series, which is certainly on top form throughout. Amongst the cast include Kenneth Williams, Kenneth Connor (in a fairly typical role), Dilys Laye (taking the role that was origanally written for Joan Sims), Liz Frazer, Lance Percival as a hopelessly sea-sick chef and loveable eccentric Esma Cannon.

Customer Review: THE FIRST CARRY ON TO BE MADE IN COLOUR
Fun and games aboard a Mediterranean cruise liner with the group of passengers and crew members under the command of the strict, no nonsense Captain Crowther (marvelously played by SID JAMES). This was the first entry in the series to be made in colour. There are many laughs along the way although is slightly handicapped by the absence of most of the regulars. Only SID JAMES, KENNETH WILLIAMS and KENNETH CONNOR, the series “official” regulars are present. DILYS LAYE takes on a part origanally written for JOAN SIMS (who was unable to take the part due to illness). LIZ FRAZER (who appeared in many of the early entries) and ESMA CANNON are also on view as well as LANCE PERCIVAL as a hopelessly sea sick chef. On the whole though a good comedy, defintley worth a look.

Popular Mechanics for Kids - Radical Rockets and Other Cool Cruising Machines Join PMK’s junior hosts, Jay and Elisha, for a thrilling tour of underwater and sky borne transport in Radical Rockets. The action begins on a Trident nuclear submarine, where Jay walks over missile silos, visits the ship’s nerve center (and even steers it for a moment), looks through a periscope, and learns what makes a vessel that is longer than two football fields dive and surface. Meanwhile, Elisha takes a fantastic ride on a two-woman sub, then joins her cohort at NASA for some disorienting training in weightlessness, spurious motion, and flight control on the space shuttle. Along the way, there are lessons in the chemistry of booster rockets and how astronauts find leaks via computer. There’s also a chapter on remote-controlled model submarines, but for the most part watching Radical Rockets is like gaining exclusive, enviable access to the biggest and coolest machines in the world. –Tom Keogh
Customer Review: Great for 3 and 5 year old
I bought this for my 5 year old son, but my 3 year old daughter also enjoys it (though a bit long for her age). My son is really into rockets and space, but knows nothing of commercialized stories such as Star Wars and the like. So he’s very intrigued by the actual inner workings of rockets and boosters and things that goes into space. Lots of great real life video, which is always a hit with his mom. The kids are a bit older than him, but he still enjoys it.
Customer Review: Terrific for the inquisitive
I first bought one Popular Mechanics dvd to explain electricity to our 3 year old grandson. After seeing it I purchased one for our 5 year old grandson. Since then I have purchased two sets of the six Popular Mechanics dvd’s and they have entertained both boys for hours. These stories are told by children, for children, and are very educational and interesting. I would purchase more in a second.
